Happy New Year!  I’m thrilled to be starting another year doing what I love.  And with that I want to share an absolutely amazing session I had with a beautiful and fun family of five.  With three girls there is no shortage of pink, sparkles, tea parties, or squeals.  It was so sweet to see their mom and dad loving every minute of it. There are so many pictures that I just loved, it was hard not to share them all.  These girls were hilarious!  I laughed so much!  Each of them has a very distinct personality, but the one thing they all share is this amazing happiness.  There was a lot of love and laughter in that house, and it shows in the photos.

And here’s a little tip, if you want some cute clothes, this mom knows where to shop!  With her kids decked out in clothes from stores like  www.crewcuts.com and NextDirect we were destined to have fabulous photos!

Be sure to check back next week – I’m working on a slide show with 2009 highlights.   I’ve got so many favorites, that it’s going to a hard to narrow them down.  I’m sure it’ll be well worth it!

I love where we live!  I love being close to a downtown, to Mt. Diablo, having only a 30 min BART ride to San Francisco, being able to drive just 4 hours to Tahoe,  or  just 2 to Carmel.  But what I think I like the most about this area is photography related.  I can safely shoot 10 months out of the year without fear of rain.  January and February get a little tricky, but I tend to take time off then anyhow, so it all works out.  So if your trying to book a session, my next available family session isn’t until late February. However, if you are wanting to book a newborn session, I will do my best to fit you in – just call.

Below are a few of my favorite photos from a holiday session several weeks ago.  We get the most beautiful rolling green hills… which make for some amazing pictures – especially if the mama shops at BodenUSA for the kids’ clothes!  And you may remember the little blond from the Baby & Kids modeling shoot last year.  How could you forget those eyes?  So adorable! Such a gorgeous family!

I titled this post “the gift” because it is a birthday present to this beautiful mom of of three.  Who is it from?  Herself.  Yes, that’s right, she gifted herself a family lifestyle session and I think it’s genius!  Honestly, talk about a gift that keeps on giving!

For this session, the mom and I talked in great length about the things that are important to her.  And after shooting for nearly two hours, I walked away with photos that are fun, happy, thoughtful, and above all else, real.  They golf, tinker with Star Wars Legos, play catch, love their animals, snuggle, and laugh.  And as you can see from the pictures, she absolutely adores her family (and they adore her!)

I have many favorites from this session, but the picture of all the “men” lined up with their clubs is my favoritest of them all.  The dad, and avid golfer, was showing the boys how to hold their clubs for golf pictures, and the middle son is checking his dad’s hand to be sure his own are correct.  There is something about his look that makes me smile… and it was just for a brief moment, so I’m very happy to have captured it.   Such a lovely family.  Such a beautiful gift.

I hope everyone is staying sane during the mad rush of the holidays!  (No need to ask me if I’m staying sane… I think we all know the answer to that question!)
